Description:
The role requires access to information and technology that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and other U.S. government security regulations. Candidates for this position must be a “U.S. Person” under ITAR (i.e., U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) and/or otherwise comply with ITAR requirements to be considered for this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Possess broad engineering knowledge and interface directly with customers and vendors on technical issues
Strong ability to align engineering strategies with business goals and customer requirements
Impact the business by developing new products and manufacturing technologies in a fast-paced, dynamic, growing organization
Provide upfront Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and direct engineering support for new and existing customers
Work through initial technical and design issues with customers, proposing improvements and cost reductions
Screen incoming opportunities for business fit and ensure alignment with strategic capabilities road map
Provide engineering support for Outside Sales and Business Development
Interface with Sales to ensure data packages are complete, correct, and all relevant background is provided
Review completed quotes to ensure all issues have been noted, tooling identified and costed, labor standard correctly applied, and projected profitability algins with margin projections
Understand cost models for different types of business (i.e. non-repetitive high-mix / low-volume, high complexity, box builds, harness boards, mechanical assembly, scaled multipliers for low quantity builds, set-up time, lot charges, and minimum order values)
Manage and work special projects, crisis situations, major customer issues, and analyze Operational data as needed
Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles
Experience with product development processes, including design, prototyping, testing, and validation
Project management skills and ability to manage simultaneous projects
Proficiency with 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Geometric Dimension & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Deep knowledge of manufacturing technologies: automation, molding, stamping, plating, machining, and assembly
Familiarity with materials (i.e., metal alloys, resins, and plastics), and production methods related to cable assemblies
Solid foundation in manufacturing quality systems, Six Sigma and Lean principles, and root-cause analysis tools
Work Environment:
Success in this position requires being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the current state manufacturing processes and technical capabilities throughout the site. This role requires hands-on technical experience with cable assembly components, parts, and manufacturing. This role is primarily in a professional office environment but demands direct accessibility to Engineering Technicians and Production personnel to observe manufacturing processes.
